Teach a fish how to bite on a hook or get its head stuck in a gill-net and it only swims for a day. Give a man a fish and he gets ciguatera food poisoning. Teach a man to fish and you get rid of him at weekends: for a lifetime. Most people can teach themselves or get their friends to teach them how to catch fish. So you can save on tuition costs there. You can’t teach salmon how to swim downstream after they have spawned. All fish rot from the head down. If the legal system was not so fishy they wouldn’t talk about the scales of justice. Why do they talk about fishing competitions – fish aren’t competitive and in many cases the fish entered are already dead?
