A couple of thousand years ago
lived a man they couldn’t command
a couple of thousand years ago
they we at a loss-
so they hung him on a cross.

Every day 40,000 people die,
withered by malnutrition.
Sometimes I want to cry
when I think about their death
but then I’m not close enough to hear their dying breath.

The other day a homeless man
died in the land of the free
there was none who gave a damn
no one gave a toss
his parting was no loss.

Then in New York a tragedy
about 3,000 died
the mayor said it’s tyranny
an attack on peaceful people everywhere
but you know what I don’t care.
